All districts in Bulgaria now designated as Covid-19 Green zones

All districts in Bulgaria are now designated as Green zones in terms of Covid-19 morbidity, data of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases shows on May 25. The infection rate is 50 cases per 100,000 population on a fortnight basis.

For the past twenty-four hours, 100 new cases of Covod-19 have been reported. 470 people are being treated in hospital, 40 of whom are in intensive care.

Three people have died due to complications related to the infection. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 37,109 Covid related deaths have beeb reported in the country.

According to the country's epidemic situation map, divided into five regions and indicating the occupancy of hospital beds for intensive care patients, all regions are at the lowest stage - zero.

180 clinical samples with SARS-CoV-2 were analyzed by whole genome sequencing. The Omicron variant and its subvariants VA.1 and VA.2 were detected in all samples.

The samples were taken from patients with COVID-19 between April 1 and May 3, 2022, and were sent from 23 different medical facilities in 17 districts of the country.
