Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister: We will supply gas to Bulgaria for the next 25 years

Azerbaijan will supply gas to Bulgaria for the next 25 years, as agreed between the two countries, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov sain on May 31.

"Bulgaria is one of the three recipients of Azeri gas in Europe. We are sure that the gas interconnector with Greece will soon be completed and Bulgaria will start receiving Azeri gas through it. This will make a great contribution to your country's energy security in these volatile times," Bayramov said.

Bayramov is visiting the country at the invitation of Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Teodora Genchovska, on the occasion of 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.

After the meeting, Genchovska expressed hope that the good cooperation will continue. She assured her Azeri counterpart that the diversification of energy supplies is a priority for the government and expressed hope that the connection with Greece will soon be completed so that Bulgaria can receive the whole amount of Azeri gas through it.

"The Russian aggression has created a new geopolitical reality that has threatened the security not only of the region but of the whole of Europe. In this context, we rely on Azerbaijan's contribution to the stability of energy supplies, which will also contribute to strengthening European and Euro-Atlantic security," Genchovska said.

They discussed the war in Ukraine and the strengthening of economic cooperation, which includes the restoration of the Sofia-Baku direct flights. Bulgaria has extended an invitation to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for a visit to our country, Genchovska said.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, an exhibition has been arranged at the Foreign Ministry.
