Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister, Teodora Genchovska, on May 26 held talks with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The two discussed opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector, including nuclear energy, radioactive waste management, economy and security.

The issue of the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the need to diversify sources of natural gas were also discussed at the meeting.

"We have great friendly relations between our countries, but we need more cooperation and we need to use the opportunities that we have not fully used so far. We can cooperate in the areas of economy, culture, clean energy, traditional energy - there are many opportunities for cooperation. There will be many opportunities for investment, for projects, for more trade. We know that Bulgaria has many opportunities in the military sector, and we are trying to develop it. We have common positions on security in the region, it is important to have good coordination to fight terrorism," Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said after the meeting.

The Saudi foreign minister will also participate in the “Hemus 2022” military exhibition in June.
