Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, who participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos, held a series of bilateral meetings on May 25.

Prime Minister Petkov held talks with his Croatian counterpart, Andrej Plenkovic. The two Heads of Government discussed topical issues at the upcoming European Council meeting in Brussels. Petkov and Plenkovic were unanimous on the need for the two countries to join Schengen.

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov also met with Montenegrin Prime Minister, Dritan Abazovic, and congratulated him on his recent appointment to the post and welcomed the political will of the government to continue to implement the commitments made in the course of the European integration process. Petkov reaffirmed Bulgaria's consistent support for Montenegro's Euro-Atlantic integration.

Petkov also met with Moldovan Prime Minister, Natalia Gavrilita. They discussed the challenges posed by the war in Ukraine. The meeting also focused on energy issues and the fight for the rule of law. Prime Minister Petkov expressed support for the development of Taraclia State University, which is an important bridge between the two countries.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister also met with Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla. The main topic of the talks was the opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector, in the context of the government's consistent actions to secure gas supplies to Bulgaria from various sources. With the commissioning of the interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece, the necessary infrastructure will be in place.

Prime Minister Petkov's programme in Davos continues with an official dinner given by World Economic Forum President, Børge Brende. Among the guests at the event are Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization: Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the OECD; Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium and others.

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov is in Switzerland, where today and tomorrow (May 25 and 26) he will participate in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

During the visit, Petkov will take part in a discussion on the topic "A Lost Decade?", dedicated to the challenges facing the world today and ways to overcome them.

He will also be a guest at a dinner given by Børge Brende, President and Member of the Board of the World Economic Forum.

The 2022 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting is centered around the theme “History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies". The Forum will bring together more than 2,000 economic and political leaders, intellectuals, journalists and experts from around the world.
