President appointed Gabriela Naplatanova a member of the Council for Electronic Media

On the basis of Article 98, item 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria in conjunction with Article 24, par. 1 of the Law on Radio and Television, Bulgaria’s Head of State Rumen Radev on May 9 signed a decree appointing Gabriela Naplatanova-Russeva as a member of the Council for Electronic Media from the quota of the President, the press secretariat of the Head of State announced.

Gabriela Naplatanova is a holder of a Master's degree from the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication of Sofia University. Kliment Ohridski, where she graduated in Public Relations. At the same faculty she was a visiting lecturer in the period 2015 - 2017. She has received training under the IREX program of the US State Department and the George Marshall European Security Centre, as well as participated in numerous media programs of the US mission in NATO.

In 2019, she defended a dissertation on "Managing Media Effects and Media Operations during Armed Conflict" at “Georgi Rakovski” Military Academy, Faculty of National Security.

Senior reporter at bTV Media Group, part of the News and Current Affairs editorial team since the television station was launched in 2000. She covered topics related to Bulgaria's domestic and foreign policy, security and defence issues, armed conflicts in the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. She is the author of many documentary projects on foreign policy and military issues related to NATO, cyber security, data protection and refugee problems.

Naplatanova has won numerous awards and recognitions for her journalistic work and documentary projects in her 25-year television career.

She is fluent in English, French and Russian. Married with two children.

The Council for Electronic Media consists of five members, of whom three are elected by the National Assembly and two are appointed by the President.
