President Radev: I defend the Bulgarian position on North Macedonia everywhere with arguments and it is increasingly understood

This evening, May 19, President Rumen Radev commented on topical issues of the day.

On the anti-crisis measures proposed by the government, he said that they have yet to find legislative support and it is too early for assessments.

As for his talks with the US Assistant Secretary of State and President Macron, Radev said that he has always defended the Bulgarian national interest and has not felt any pressure regarding the Bulgarian position on North Macedonia.

"I have repeatedly stated that I defend the Bulgarian position everywhere with arguments and it is increasingly understood. It is extremely important to have communication with all EU leaders and not only with our strategic partners from the United States, with all European institutions so that a clear, sustainable, irreversible solution to the issue is found," Radev said.

Vice President Iliana Iotova commented on the resolution adopted in the European Parliament on the negotiations with North Macedonian, saying that the Bulgarian MEPs had not sufficiently defended the interests of the Bulgarians in North Macedonia.
