Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has opened a probe in “Bulgarian Posts” because of the hacker attack. The signal is for malfeasance, computer crimes and illegal access to the company's information system.
Cyber-attack on Bulgarian Posts disrupts payment of pensions
Information has been requested from the services and the Ministry of the Interior about whether and what checks they carry out. Information has also been requested from “Bulgarian Posts” on the procedure for payment of pensions following the system crash.
The Prosecutor General has allowed ministers to be questioned in the case, and the names cited in the alert the prosecutor's office is working on include the deputy prime minister for effective governance - Kalina Konstantinova, whose area of responsibility includes the “Bulgarian Posts”, and Transport Minister, Nikolai Sabev, over allegations that he took advantage of the post office's problems through his private company.
"The interviews with people from the cabinet will not be an exception for the Bulgarian prosecutor's office in this term, we will cooperate in every way for the uncovering of any attacks, problems and crimes," said Lena Borislavova, the government's chief of staff.
