Residents of Blagoevgrad (South-Eastern Bulgaria) on May 9 marked 77 years since the end of World War II and Europe Day by laying flowers in front of the memorial plaque dedicated to those who died in the war for the reunification and independence of Bulgaria. It is located in front of the “22 September" Hall in the city centre.
On 9 May 1945, the Second World War ended with the signing of the German surrender. Hostilities were fought on the territory of 4 continents, with 61 countries involved
The second phase of the war involved over 6,000 people from Southwestern Bulgaria. Over 2,300 people participated in the fighting from the Blagoevgrad region.
The traditional March of the Immortal Regiment was also held in Plovdiv at noon.
