Seven bodies found illegally buried near Sofia, an employee of an undertakers company detained

Seven dead bodies of elderly people were found buried near the village of Klisura, close to the town of Bankya. The Ministry of Interior confirmed that these were illegal burials. One person has been detained.

According to unofficial information, the bodies are of elderly people who were in hospices and were to be cremated after their death.

The Ministry of Interior said that the detainee is a 51-year-old man who, according to initial reports, buried the bodies instead of cremating them.

The man detained for the fraudulent scheme involving illegal burials has admitted to investigators that he buried a total of about 60 corpses instead of cremating them, BNT learned.

The alert about the graves on the illegal site was received at the Ninth District Police Station on May 23 by a local resident. On immediate inspection, the buried bodies were found. The prosecutor's office was also informed. More examinations, interviews, searches and clarification whether the suspect has accomplices are yet to be carried out.
