A 73-year-old man from the municipality of Pavel Banya was detained by the Bulgarian police on the territory of the town of Kazanlak (Southern Bulgaria) on January 7, Ministry of Interior announced on January 10.
He has been declared internationally wanted on an Interpol red notice since the end of 2019 in connection with a serious criminal offense (murder for robbery) in Turkey, for which in May 2008 local judicial authorities sentenced the man to "life imprisonment".
Since the end of 2021, he has been subject to a detention order issued by the District Court in Stara Zagora in a private criminal case in connection with the sentence issued by the Turkish court.
After the detention, the man was escorted to Stara Zagora Prison, where he will serve the sentence imposed on him.
