As part of the tradition, in the evening on May 24, the Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and of Slavic Literature, the "Askeer" Awards for achievements in the theatrical art were presented in a ceremony at the Theatre of the Bulgarian Army.
The award for the best performance went to "The Tail", Pleven Theatre “Ivan Radoev”
The Academy "Askeer" honoured the actress Tsvetana Maneva with the grand award for her overall contribution to the theatrical art.
Awards from actors to actors - for three decades now the Bulgarian Army Theatre has been observing this tradition. The ceremony was entitled "A Lesson in Bulgarian".

The nominations for the "Askeer" award included actors and performances that have premiered from 1 May 2021 to 30 April this year. 90 productions took part in the contested battle tonight.
The three main plays of the year are “The Tempest” at the National Theatre, a Spanish play at “Behind the Canal” Theatre and the winner, “The Tail” at Pleven Theatre.
This year the "Askeer" Academy awarded an honorary prize to the actress Meglena Karalambova.
