A protest under the slogan "Stop messing with the media" was organised on April 15 by the Association of European Journalists.
Protesters stretched a red ribbon around the building of the Bulgarian Parliament as a sign that red lines have been crossed in the attitude towards the media. The Association explained on its Facebook page that the withdrawal of Martin Karbovski, who was nominated by "There is Such a People" (TISP) for a member of the Council for Electronic Media, is a step in the right direction.
His nomination itself is crossing a red line and that is why the protesters also want Toshko Yordanov (MP from TISP) to step down as chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture and media.
