Chief Prosecutor, Ivan Geshev, on January 26, held a working meeting in the European Parliament with Michal Simechka, Vice-President of the European Parliament and a member of the Renew Europe Group.
Among the highlights of the conversation were the protection of the rights and freedoms of Bulgarian citizens and especially of disadvantaged people and minority groups.
The chief prosecutor assured the EP Vice-President of the commitment of the Prosecutor’s office to actively prosecute cases of domestic violence and crimes against the person based on ethnic, religious and gender identity.
During the conversation, the readiness of the Prosecutor's office to contribute to the establishment of the rule of law and European standards in Bulgaria was also discussed.
