Bulgaria’s President Radev and Vice President Yotova will take an oath of office on January 19

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Yotova will take an oath of office for their second term before the National Assembly on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, members of the Council of Ministers, members of the Constitutional Court, representatives of the diplomatic corps, religions registered in Bulgaria, state institutions, former presidents of the Republic of Bulgaria and Speakers of Parliament are invited to the ceremony.

The solemn ceremony will take pale at 10.00 am and will be broadcast live on the Bulgarian National Television and the Bulgarian National Radio.

Before Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova take the oath in the Parliament, the decision by which the Central Election Commission declares them elected President and Vice President of Bulgaria will be read.

President Radev will address the people and the National Assembly.

After the ceremony in the National Assembly, His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte will meet Radev and Yotova in the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky" and will serve a solemn prayer.

His Holiness will also greet the head of state with an archpastoral speech with wishes for God's gracious support for peaceful and fruitful service to the Bulgarian people. For the second time, Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte will personally hold a prayer service and bless President Radev for a successful term as head of state.

Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova won the runoff in the presidential election held on November 21, 2021.

2,310,903 voters voted in the runoff. Turnout was at a record low of 34.84%. 1,559,650 Bulgarians voted for the presidential pair Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova, and 733,791 voted for the pair Anastas Gerdzhikov and Nevyana Miteva.
