Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior, Boyko Rashkov, held a working meeting with European Chief Prosecutorl Laura Kövesi on March 17. The meeting was part of the visit of Ms Kövesi to Bulgaria.
During the discussion, Bulgaria's delegated prosecutors were highly appreciated for the effective interaction with them.
The Bulgarian side presented the recently adopted rules regulating the cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and the European Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as the legislative initiative launched with regard to the specialised court and specialised prosecutor’s offices. The expectations are to optimise the process of investigating organised crime cases.
The Bulgarian side's actions to establish a team of investigators in the Ministry of Interior to work on cases of the European Public Prosecutor's Office were also discussed.
Ms Kövesi praised the work of the Ministry of the Interior so far and expressed her expectation for even more active direct reporting of cases of serious misuse of EU funds.
In conclusion, a willingness was expressed to continue the partnership cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and the European Public Prosecutor's Office.
