In his words, it is important to have stability on the Western Balkans, where there is great influence. The European path of the Republic of North Macedonia and Albania are part of this stability, Kiril Petkov stressed.

He said that the main goal is to focus on fuel prices. "It's very important that we try to negotiate together, in the same voice, so that we bring those prices down, as they impact other prices, including the price of electricity, bread and sunflower oil" he said.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister said he has once again discussed with his Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis the link of the natural gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece.

He explained that the Greek link will be connected to Alexandroupolis, from where we will be able to buy liquefied gas, as this is a priority for the whole of Europe.

"This dependence is a threat to our national security. Bulgaria supports Ukraine, the stronger message is that the Bulgarian people support Ukraine," the Bulgarian Prime Minister further said.

He thanked everyone who took part in the peaceful demonstration in support of Ukraine yesterday. Kiril Petkov stressed that Bulgaria has a clear position on the expulsion of Russian spies, as well as on the case of the Russian ambassador Ms Mitrofanova.

The European leaders and the United States have agreed on a joint statement expressing their willingness to impose further sanctions against Russia and Belarus and to prevent attempts for avoidance of the restrictions imposed on them.

Yesterday, US President Joe Biden also attended the meeting of the European leaders. According to him, the most important thing at the moment is for the democracies of the world to demonstrate unity.
