Bulgaria and Armenia to promote bilateral partnership in economy, tourism and education

The search for new opportunities to promote the partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia in the economy, tourism and education was discussed at a meeting on June 14 between President Rumen Radev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, who is visiting Armenia.

This year, the two countries mark 30 years since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, but the strong spiritual and friendly ties between Bulgarians and Armenians date back centuries, it was stressed at the meeting.

The common position was that the lasting consolidation of stability and the expansion of transport connectivity in the Black Sea region and the Caucasus is key to boosting investment.

According to Minister Mirzoyan, the opening of a direct air link between Sofia and Yerevan could turn Bulgaria into a transport hub for Armenia and facilitate the implementation of various transport projects.

The Head of State noted that the Armenian community in Bulgaria is fully integrated and plays an important role in the country's public life. In the President's words, this gives excellent opportunities for further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the economy, culture and education. Rumen Radev also invited Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian to visit Bulgaria.

The meeting also discussed the need for sustainability of the process of strengthening stability and security in the Caucasus region, as well as the role of the European Union and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe in this process.
