Bulgaria plans to buy 6 helicopters for transporting patients with emergency conditions.

This emerged after a visit of the Minister of Health, Asena Serbezova, to the Emergency Medical Centre in Sofia on February 21.

Five of the helicopters are to be provided under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and one more - under a project funded under the Operational Programme "Regions in Growth" 2014-2020.

During the visit today, Asena Serbezova discussed the necessary changes in the emergency medical care system with the director of the Sofia Emergency Medical Centre, Dr. Georgi Gelev, the Ministry of Health said.

During her visit to the Regional Coordination Centre of the Sofia Regional Medical Centre, Minister Serbezova talked to the staff about the logistics of patients in Sofia and the district and the mechanism for checking the vacant hospital beds.

At the end of the month, representatives of the Bulgarian Ministry of Health, including the Centre for Emergency Medical Services, will visit Istanbul and Ankara, where they will get acquainted with the organization of emergency medical care in the Republic of Turkey.

The aim is to exchange experience and good practices, which could to be adapted and adopted in Bulgaria.
