Officers from the Regional Directorate "Border Police" in Bulgaria’s coastal city of Bourgas conducted a specialised police operation yesterday, April 13.
They stopped two cars on "Todor Alexandrov" Blvd. for inspection. In one of the cars, the border police officers found 5 and in the other 6 illegal migrants who claimed to be Afghans. The drivers and the migrants were detained.
A third car with migrants did not stop at the stop stick signal. Moving at high speed, the driver tried to avoid the check, but shortly after that he side-swiped a lorry.
About a kilometre away from the accident in the area of Kapcheto, the driver of the car abandoned 7 Afghan illegal migrants. They were detained. The car was found abandoned in a wooded area nearby. The search for the driver continues.
The district Prosecutor's Office has been informed. Three pre-trial proceedings have been initiated at Bourgas Regional Police Directorate.
