Due to higher electricity and gas prices, which caused an energy crisis, lawmakers set up a special ad-hoc committee.
With 163 votes in favour, 49 against and 7 abstentions, the lawmakers approved the establishment of an ad-hoc committee on Energy Crisis and a proposal to tackle it.
The idea came from the parliamentary group "We Continue the Change" and the draft decision was included as the third item on the agenda for the National Assembly sitting on Wednesday.
Long debates have sparked controversy over whether or not to have such a committee.
The dispute was first about the name of the committee. The opposition GERB stated that there is no energy crisis given that there are supplies and said that in this debate it is impossible not to talk about the price of electricity. And the price of electricity is determined by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission.
Remarks were exchanged as to who was to blame for this situation for electricity prices.
Most political groups have agreed that there should be a debate in parliament on such a crisis.
