At an extraordinary sitting on March 1, Bulgaria’s Parliament accepted the resignation of the Minister of Defence Stefan Yanev and appointed Dragomir Zakov as the new minister.

All parliamentary groups voted in favour of the first change in Kiril Petkov's cabinet, only MRF abstained.

The personnel changes in the Council of Ministers were approved by 217 votes in favour. No MPs voted against.

Zakov was sworn in before Parliament.

The PM presented Dragomir Zakov's biography in the plenary.

"He has 20 years of experience in international security," Petkov said.

Zakov has been Bulgaria's ambassador to NATO since 2019 and has extensive expertise in the field of

international security.

In recent years, he has worked actively to impose a systematic approach to taking

decisions in the defence system, as well as to increase counter

disinformation," Petkov stressed.

Zakov graduated in International Economic Relations from the UNWE. From 2004 to 2008, he was part of the Bulgarian delegation to NATO. After that he participated in our mission to the UN. Before becoming a representative to NATO, in 2014 he started working at the Foreign Ministry.
