The population of Bulgaria has decreased to 6 million and 520 thousand people.
The National Statistical Institute on January 6 presented the initial data from last year's census.
Compared to 2011, when the previous census took place, the population has fallen by 844,000 people.
According to the preliminary results of the 2021 census, among the 28 districts in the country, the capital city Sofia is the largest, with close to 1.5 million people, while Vidin’s population was the smallest, about 74,000 people.
