Record number of new Covid-19 cases was registered in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours. For the first time since the start of the pandemic, the number of daily cases is more than 7,000.
7062 newly infected with Covid-19 were reported on January 12. The positivity rate is at 18.6%.
The previous record for the number of positive tests per day was on October 27 last year, when the new cases were 6,816.
824 per 100,000 is the 14-day incidence to date. The number of districts in the dark red zone is increasing. As of today, it includes Montana, Smolyan, Yambol and Sliven.
In Sofia, the two-week morbidity rate reached record levels. There are 1,387 infected per 100,000.
There are available beds in the hospitals in Sofia. Schools and kindergartens will close last, the director of Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI), Dancho Penchev, told BNT.
Additional anti-epidemic measures are introduced in Sofia. As of January12, non-urgent admissions and elective surgical operations will be temporarily suspended in all hospitals in Sofia. Exception is given to activities related to transplantation of organs, tissues and cells, diagnostics and treatment of patients with oncological and oncohematological diseases, assisted reproduction and births, regardless of the method of delivery, rehabilitation activities.
All participants in the Consultative Council on National Security are under quarantine, the director of Sofia RHI said.
