At the invitation of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi will visit Sofia, the Council of Ministers said on March 14.
Within the framework of her visit on Wednesday, March 16, Kövesi and Petkov will meet to discuss the government's priorities for fight against corruption and for judicial reform. The interaction between the two institutions will also be a topic of discussion.
A week ago, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov announced that the Council of Ministers will become a direct point of contact to the European Public Prosecutor's Office, so that signals from the Council of Ministers will go directly to the European Public Prosecutor's Office without intermediaries.
According to Petkov, this new relationship between the two institutions will enable signals related to corruption and misuse of EU funds to be sent in an extremely expeditious manner.
