The European Commission announced on March 22 that it has approved the provision of 25 million BGN (12.78 million euro) in support of Bulgarian tour operators affected by the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds will be provided to all tour operators with a valid license to operate in Bulgaria, regardless of where they are registered and where their clients come from.
The companies will be entitled to receive 35 euro for each passenger who has paid for their services, including a flight to Bulgaria, for flights in the period between 1 June 2021 and 14 May 2022.
The aim of the measure is to stimulate inbound tourism and limit the sudden shortage of funds faced by the companies concerned.
