Inspections of heavy goods vehicles and buses are underway. The checks are conducted throughout the country and are part of the week-long Roadpol Truck & Bus campaign.
The responsible institutions coordinating the checks include the General Directorate of National Police, the Road Administration Agency and the General Labour Inspectorate.
On different sections of Struma motorway this morning, June 16, traffic police teams stopped drivers at random who were checked for alcohol and drugs by the Ministry of Interior. The Motor Vehicle Administration also checked whether the lorries were overloaded and the Labour Inspectorate requested the drivers to present employment contracts with the companies they work for.
The joint operation invvolved police officers from Greece, Croatia and Latvia. More than 40 lorries and buses were checked in a few hours and no violations were found.
