The increased traffic of lorries in th direction of Danube Bridge 2 at Vidin has caused congestions in the traffic of cars. For days, there have been kilometres long queues before the border facility, along the entire ring road of the city.
Lorries travelling in the direction of Romania are diverted for waiting on the territories of the districts of Vratsa and Montana in Bulgaria.
There is also a buffer zone before the bridge in Vidin. At the border crossing with Romania, at the exit from the country, lorries pass along five of the six routes. One is for cars and buses, said the company that manages the border facility.
They explained that the reason for the queues was increased traffic. An average of 1,100 lorries pass through per day in one direction alone. The congestion is due to drivers resting in their cabs and trying to overtake, which blocks the traffic.
