After the information from “We Continue the Change” patty that this week the leadership meetings to determine the structure and line-up of the new government begin, today, November 29, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) requested that the coalition agreement be signed first, and then talk about posts and names.

Rumen Gechev from the BSP announced in the studio of BNT current affairs programme "More from the Day" that the ministerial posts in the new cabinet are distributed according to the weight of each of the parties in the next Parliament.

Thus, the negotiators agreed that 8 ministries would be for "We Continue the Change" (WCC), 4 for the BSP, 3- for "There is Such a People" (TISP) and 2 for "Democratic Bulgaria"(DB).

The structure and draft line-up of the future cabinet should be clear next week, and the new government will be voted on by Christmas. This moderate optimism was shared by Rumen Gechev from BSP and Vladislav Panev from DB. Panev described the environment ministry as one of the logical ones for the coalition.

Today, however, the BSP leader brought together the leaders of all working groups involved in negotiations to summarize what has been achieved, and so they decided that the party would want to sign a coalition agreement first, and then talks on ministerial seats.

“We Continue the Change” remained silent today. BSP commented that a number of issues have been agreed during discussions with the other three parties, but there are still issues that are controversial.

According to the BSP, additional talks and a leadership meeting will be held.. BSP leader Kornelia Ninova, said that for the party in the first place it is important to be a social pillar in the future government and to protect children, young families, workers, the poor and pensioners, small and medium –sized businesses.

Before BNT, Rumen Gechev described the approach of first signing a coalition agreement as very correct.

BNT: When and how will the negotiations continue?

Rumen Gechev: If such an agreement is signed, it should be in the coming days. This, I suppose, will happen in the first two or three days of the new parliament, after which decisions on the ministerial posts will be made so that we can celebrate Christmas with a new government.

On some of the controversial topics between the four parties, it is appropriate to wait for the adoption of the budget for next year to see what spending in the conditions of crisis is real, Gechev said.

BNT: Inside the party, are you aware of how many ministerial seats you will insist on and whether you will insist?

Rumen Gechev: What I know is that it has been achieved that each party receives according to its parliamentary weight, and n the specific portfolios, the people who are best prepared should be selected from these quotas.

"We Continue the Change", the winner in the November 14 parliamentary elections, opened talks with potential coalition partners as it seeks to form a government in Bulgaria after three elections in 2021.

“We Continue the Change” officially began government coalition talks on Tuesday, last week, with the “Bulgarian Socialist Party”, “There Is Such a People” and “Democratic Bulgaria”.

“We Continue the Change” is a party initiated by two former ministers (Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev) in the caretaker government appointed by President Rumen Radev to run the country between May and September when no party could establish a majority to form a government.
