For the first time in Bulgaria's history we have a central role in energy security. This is what Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said at the beginning of the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers on May 5.
"Bulgaria, together with Romania, Greece, Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, together with our colleagues from Azerbaijan, we are discussing how energy security in the region can be optimised in order to have greater diversification, lower prices, and to have optimisation between systems so that the risk for supply is reduced," the Prime Minister said.
He also announced that Bulgaria is submitting a request for a raise in the VAT registration threshold.
"This is part of the coalition agreement. I am glad that we are taking this first step of asking the EC for a derogation to raise the VAT threshold from BGN 50,000 to BGN 100,000, which will be a great relief, especially for small businesses in Bulgaria that are struggling with economic difficulties. This will reduce their administrative time," Petkov said.
