The President of Germany Joachim Gauck will arrive on a three day visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgaria’s President Rosen Plevneliev.
Increase of German investments in Bulgaria; strengthening of bilateral exchange of goods; development of cultural relations and partnership between the two countries in EC and NATO will be among the main topics of the talks between the two presidents.
On 22nd of June, the two presidents will have a meeting, at which high state honours will be exchanged. President Plevneliev will be awarded Grand Cross Special Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and President Gauck will be awarded the Stara Planina Order with ribbon. Plenary talks of the official delegations will be held followed by a joint press conference.
Within the three day visit, President Gauck will meet the Chairperson of Bulgaria’s Parliament Tsetska Tsacheva and Prime Мinister Boyko Borissov.
On 23rd of June, President Plevneliev and hid German counterpart Gauck will open a Bulgarian-German business forum in Sofia. Earlier, President Gauck will deliver a lecture “Germny-Bulgaria – partners in the EU” at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. After that the two presidents will take part in a discussion with university and high–school students.
The two Heads of State will visit Bulgaria’s Rila monastery.
On 24th of May, they will participate in a discussion “Lessons from the Past. Memory of communism. Understanding the totalitarian Regime”, which will take in the central military club in Sofia.
Later, the two presidents will be familiarized with the production process of the plant of Aurubis company in Bulgaria.
