Ukraine is linked to our country with centuries-old ties, and I would like to welcome you with the fact that Mr Anton Kisse (Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and President of the Association of Bulgarians in Ukraine) is part of your delegation. Bulgaria at the highest political level has condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation towards your country. We stood in resolute defence of Ukraine's territorial integrity, we actively joined all sanctions regimes despite the social and economic consequences, President Radev said. Bulgaria has opened its doors, Bulgarians have opened their hearts and homes to the citizens of Ukraine, we have provided protection to over 91,000 people. Our aspiration is not only to provide food and shelter, but also education, employment, so that the most affected - the children - do not feel traumatised by this war. We are fully prepared to continue the programme, which we started in 2014 and suspended because of Covid, for the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen. I expect our 2 governments to reinstate this programme. We are particularly concerned, we are monitoring the growing number of civilian casualties and the development of the fighting," Radev added.

He expressed hope that Ukraine is doing everything possible to protect the Bulgarian national minority. He called for the fratricidal war to stop as soon as possible and for the EU to seek a faster recovery of Ukraine. The majority of the B-9 presidents in the early days of the war issued a declaration calling for Ukraine's accelerated integration into the EU. Bulgaria will continue to do its utmost and provide full support to Ukraine, within the limits of what is possible, Radev stressed.

You are not only a leader loved by your people, but also a military. You understand very well what is happening in Ukraine now, Dmytro Kuleba said. He acknowledged that it is a full-scale war, thanked that Bulgaria's position has been principled since the first days of the war. He also thanked for the reception of Ukrainian refugees in this country.

Kuleba also said that sanctions against Russia should be continued in order to stop its aggression.

He also noted Bulgaria's clear position on Ukraine's European integration.

Anton Kisse noted that there is no difference between the 133 nationalities in Ukraine, they are defending their homeland. He commented that there is a need to help Ukraine as much as possible.

Today, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister will also be heard in the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly.
