Several Ukrainian families, including one pregnant woman, have already been accommodated in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv in various private homes. Today, Natasha, who is expecting her second child soon, was examined in one of the specialized obstetric-gynecological hospitals in the city.

Since the beginning of the hostilities, time seems to be starting again for Natasha.

"The days have changed their meaning, we are now talking about the first day of the war, the second day of the war and so on. And only now I am starting to feel some health problems. On the way I had mobilized all my strength for the sake of the child and its health. I will never forget my first fear, we were afraid to fall asleep after the initial blasts we heard. If I hadn't been in the 9th month of the pregnancy maybe we would have stayed in Kyiv, but in this condition we couldn't risk it. Even hospitals are being blown up there now," Natasha said.

The specialist hospital where they examined the young woman had provided a gynaecologist of Ukrainian origin to make Natasha feel more at ease.

"The due date is set for the end of March. The ultrasound examinations done and the recording of the fetal tones indicate that the fetus is in good condition. The management of the hospital agreed that all women giving birth and pregnant women coming from Ukraine, from the conflict area, will be served flawlessly in our hospital," said prof. Blagovest Pehlivanov, head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.

Several families have already been accommodated in Plovdiv and surrounding villages. 4 more women with 8 children are expected, one of them is a baby. Places are being sought for them.

"What we hope will happen is that more and more people will respond to this and be sympathetic. Last night I saw the expressions, their faces, they are really scared and afraid," said Plamen Kabakov.

Ukrainians who have lived in Plovdiv for years are collecting necessities that will be sent to their homeland.
