Snow expected Sunday, April 17

On Sunday, April 17, the day will start with showers and very quickly temperatures will start to drop in the afternoon. The drop will be more than last Sunday and will persist, meteorologist Anastasia Stoycheva told BNT.

There will be significant rain showers on Sunday, with temperatures dropping by more than 10 degrees.

The coldest weather is expected on Monday, it will be cold on Tuesday. There will be Saharan dust again, mainly affecting southern Bulgaria.

Significant rainfall is expected across the country, but mainly in central and southwest Bulgaria. The rain will turn snow in some places. Temperatures thetre will drop below freezing. In Sofia, we expect up to -5 degrees and certainly a snow cover of 1 - 2 cm. Large amount of snow is forecast to fall in the mountains, she said.

Snow is also expected in Dobrudja and Ludogorie, with more substantial snowfall in the Rhodope mountains.

Precipitation will be frequent until April 24, Stoycheva added. After that, clouds will break and decrease, but thunderstorms are expected around Easter.

There will be a rise in temperatures at the end of April, without them becoming very high.
