Heavy snowfall caused power outages in Ivaylovgrad and 5 villages in the municipality in Southern Bulgaria, including the villages of Plevun, Pastrook, Pokrovan, Zhelezino and Rozino.
Teams of distribution company EVN are working to restore electricity supply. In some parts of the municipality, the snow cover has reached 35 cm.
Elsewhere in the Haskovo region, there are power outages due to failures. Work is underway to restore supply.
The roads in the area are passable in winter conditions. 121 machines worked on the republican roads during the night - 76 spreaders, 38 snow ploughs and 7 loaders. 220 tonnes of sand and 420 tonness of salt were spread on the roads, the district administration said on February 2.
More than 900 snow ploughs work on roads across the country. Tyre chains are mandatory for all vehicles passing through the Pechinsko Pass.
Early this morning, two lorries crashed near the village of Dobromirka, Sevlievo region in Northern Bulgaria. No one was injured in the accident, but there were long queues of cars.
An accident between a car and a bus near the village of Moravitsa caused traffic disruption on the Sofia-Varna road. The traffic in the section is regulated by the Traffic Police.
All roads in Gabrovo and Veliko uarnovo districts are passable in winter conditions.
TIR lorries crashed on the sub-Balkan road near Kalofer. Drivers complain that the lane is not well cleaned.
In Blagoevgrad district, Predela pass was closed to traffic of vehicles weighing more than 12 tonnes from yesterday until this morning. Traffic of lorries was restored shortly after 11 o'clock. The pass is passable in winter conditions.
There are no reports of accidents and stuck cars. Roads throughout the area are being cleared and sanded. Due to the wet snow, a tree fell at the junction for the village of Kostun on the road from Bansko in the direction of Gotse Delchev. Therefore, motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area. The road administration said they were taking action to remove the fallen tree.
In Sofia region there was a problem with the cleaning of the roads of Vitosha Nature Park.
The traffic on the mountain road "Boyana - Golden Bridges" was restored at 11 o'clock, and a little later the road "Dragalevtsi-Aleko" was opened.
Dozens of vehicles waited for hours for the road to Vitosha to be cleaned.
On Vitosha mountain, the snowfall is heavier and the snow cover is about 40 cm.
The snow brought the greatest joy to the children, who are on vacation this week and took out the sledges.
