The Speaker of Bulgaria’s Parliament, Nikola Minchev, convenes an extraordinary sitting on January 26, 2022 at 3:30 p.m.
The agenda includes hearings of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the heads of State Agency for National Security (SANS), State Agency “Intelligence” and Military Intelligence in connection with the Russia-Ukraine conflict, NATO-Russian tensions and Bulgaria's role in the decision-making process in NATO on the topics, as well as the deployment of Allied armed forces on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The request for an extraordinary sitting was submitted on January 24, 2022 by 59 MPs from the PG of the opposition GERB-UDF.
The Speaker of Parliament has decided to schedule the sitting for Wednesday at 3.30 pm so that full information on the issues raised can be presented.
Prior to that, the Security Council of the Council of Ministers will meet on January 25, and a government meeting will be held on January 26 to discuss tensions over Ukraine and NATO Allies' plans to boost the Alliance's eastern flank.
