ukrainian refugees left state owned accommodation veliko turnovo they complained poor living conditions

Ukrainian refugees, who two days ago were redirected from the coastal city of Varna to a state-owned accommodation facility in Veliko Turnovo, complained of poor conditions there.

Upon arrival, the group of 20 Ukrainians refused to move in because, in their words, the state-owned property was not habitable.

The group was moved to a hotel in the nearby town of Gorna Oryahovitsa.

The process of relocation of Ukrainian citizens from Varna and Bourgas (on the Black Sea coast) to the interior of the country is done centrally through the National Contact Centre and the National Operational Headquarters. There was no chaos, the people were taken by train to Gorna Oryahovitsa and then transported by bus," Dr. Sonia Budeva, Deputy Governor of Veliko Turnovo, told BNT on June 1.

"The base is being used, students come for summer holidays, this is a base for student recreation and sports within the structure of the Ministry of Education," added Ivan Vachev, host of the recreation facility.
