A commemorative ceremony took place at Sofia's Central Synagogue on October 7 to mark a year since the unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.
The Speaker of Parliament, the caretaker Ministers of Justice and of Foreign Affairs, the US Ambassador and many other politicians and public figures attended the ceremony.
Photos of the October 7 attack were placed around the synagogue. There were also many pictures of people who are still hostages or missing.
"Today is a day to remember and never forget. The day the world changed forever - irreversibly. We witnessed the most barbaric, most brutal terrorist attack ever perpetrated in human history. Over 1,200 people, pregnant women, were disemboweled, children murdered in front of their parents, wives raped in front of their husbands. Something unheard of before and unprecedented and it is something we should remember," said Prof. Alexander Oscar – Chair of Shalom.
