The candidacy of Ekaterina Zaharieva for European Commissioner has been approved.
The hearing was organised in a fair way, I am grateful to all the representatives of the European Parliament who asked their questions. The Bulgarian Commissioner-designate Ekaterina Zaharieva said after the hearing in the European Parliament that the questions were very competent and constructive.
Zaharieva will be responsible for the "Start-ups, Research and Innovation" portfolio.
If all the candidates are approved by MEPs, the full European Commission will be voted on by the European Parliament at the end of November in Strasbourg and the Commission will take office on 1 December.
