October 25 is the final day of campaigning for Bulgaria’s early parliamentary elections. No form of campaigning is allowed after midnight until the end of polling day on Sunday, October 27. Tomorrow, October 26, is a day of reflection.
The voting machines are due to be transported to the most remote polling stations today. For the first time in this election, a record number of machines - more than 2,000 - will be checked for software compliance.
Voting machines have already arrived in the polling stations abroad. The Central Election Commission explained yesterday that machines would not be replaced on election day and if there was a problem with them, it would switch to voting with paper ballots. More than 9,550 voting machines will be available on Sunday. 201 of them will be local by-elections in four municipalities.
