Poverty line in Bulgaria is set at 638 BGN in 2025

BGN 638 will be the poverty line in 2025. This was decided by the caretaker government on September 27.

The size of the poverty line will increase by 112 BGN, which is by 21.3% compared to 2024.

The new size of the poverty line will have a favourable impact on the vulnerable and lowest income groups of the population. The increase will lead to a rise in the size of social benefits relative to it and financial support paid under the Social Assistance Act, the Disability Act and the Child Protection Act.

Raising the poverty line will also improve social protection for vulnerable groups, as more people and families in need will receive support from the state.
