"The most important thing today is to vote. We all want to put an end to this exhausting marathon of continuous elections, but in order to have a staedy Parliament, in order to have not just a regular, but an effective regular government that can make bold decisions and lead the country towards the achievement of nationally significant goals, it is important that these two institutions - Parliament and government - have the respective legitimacy," President Rumen Radev said after voting at the McGahan Vocational School of Transport in Sofia on October 27.

Central Election Commission: Voter turnout at 9.55% as at 11 a.m

In his words, this legitimacy stems from the massive and solid civic participation in the elections.

According to the head of state, it is necessary to give the parties a chance to sit together after the elections and calmly weigh all possibilities.

“I will approach all parties that will enter the 51st National Assembly, to solicit their opinions about how they see this process, so that the best possible conditions will be in place for negotiations among the parties and a good solution will be found. We are waiting for the results of the elections to see whether the Ministry of Interior has dealt with vote buying and employer-controlled voting.

There are so-called critical polling stations where the votes for different political parties vary by an unacceptable amount, but this is not just a problem for the Ministry of the Interior. Let's wait for the end of the election day, efforts are being made locally, the question is to what extent these efforts are guided by truly honourable goals. We will find out," Rumen Radev said.
