A protest against the nomination of Borislav Sarafov for the post of Prosecutor General and against the procedure itself was held in front of the National Assembly this evening, October 15.

Borislav Sarafov is the only nomination for the post of Prosecutor General
The protesters are against this current Supreme Judicial Council to conduct the procedure. The terms of its parliamentary quota members have expired. Borislav Sarafov is the only candidate for the post. He became acting Prosecutor General after Ivan Geshev was dismissed from the post.

"We are gathering again to stop an order, a “commissioned” procedure for the election of the most important person in the state, the chief prosecutor, on whom all policies depend, but he depends on someone. Because of this someone who orchestrated the election of all chief prosecutors in the last 10 years and because of this flawed procedure of the SJC, which term expired more than two years ago, the same one which elected and dismissed Ivan Geshev, we are here to say that until January or until Mr Sarafov himself refuses to participate in the procedure, we will be here," said lawyer Veleslav Velichkov, from a civil initiative "Justice for Everyone".
