The 12th edition of the CineLibri film and literature festival has opened. Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) is already packed with enthusiastic film fans.
The audience is now enjoying Ink, directed by Danny Boyle, in hushed anticipation. The film also opened the Venice Film Festival and embodies the idea behind this year’s motto, “Civilisation of the Spectacle”.
The programme features more than 70 screenings, an exciting international line-up and a record number of Bulgarian films. CineLibri will take place in eight cities across Bulgaria, as well as online.
Jacqueline Wagenstein, founder, president and artistic director of the CineLibri festival: “This year, the code is yellow. The focus is on the tabloid press, and CineLibri’s motto is ‘Civilisation of the Spectacle’. This marks the beginning of 23 days celebrating cinema and literature, featuring the best of world cinema inspired by literature.”
