The construction of the drainage system of the Danube Bridge at Rousse is progressing

The construction of the new drainage system, waterproofing and corrosion protection in a section of more than 400 metres of the Danube Bridge at Rousse is progressing, the Road Infrastructure Agency said on October 30. They are part of the major renovation of the facility, which started on 10 July this year.

The bridge drains have been installed in the entire 413-metre section. The corrosion protection of the steel structure has been applied and the waterproofing has been laid in a perimeter with a total length of 240 metres. The main repair of the structure on the lane in the direction of Bulgaria continues without stopping traffic and the construction works are being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule.

During the last week, the installation of the reinforcement, formwork, bolted dowels and the repointing of the new road panels has been completed in the entire 413m section of the flyover, in the right-hand traffic lane. The installation of the cornice panels has also been completed for 309 metres of the total 413 metres.

Restoration works are continuing on the dismantled guardrail as well as on the lighting poles.

The Road Agency reminds that the construction works on the Danube Bridge are being carried out without stopping the traffic and the facility will not be closed. Work on the site is carried out daily during daylight hours. The work process is organised and carried out in such a way that vehicles pass in stages in a two-way direction in the lane where no work is being carried out.
