Three people died after a train crashed into a lorry at a level crossing near Gara Oreshets, North-Western Bulgaria, on June 7. The accident was reported to the emergency number 112 at 13:35 today.
According to initial data, the three people who died were the lorry driver and the two train drivers.
The lorry was carrying crushed stones (fraction) for the construction works for the high-speed road Sofia - Vidin.
Police, fire-fighters and ambulance teams are working at the scene.
The traffic between the stations of Dimovo and Gara Oreshets is temporarily suspended due to an accident on the railway, Bulgarian railway company BDZ confirmed. Buses will be provided to transport passengers between Vidin station and Drenovets station.
"Fast train №7623 (Vidin - Sofia) is stopped in the inter-gauge Dimovo - Oreshets due to an accident after an illegal crossing of the railway line at the level crossing at the village of Belshchitsa. The train services will resume after the completion of the investigative actions and the railrway track has been cleared" BDZ also said.
