Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev sent a congratulatory address to US President Joe Biden on the occasion of Independence Day - July 4, the President's press secretariat.said on July 4.
"As strategic allies, our two countries cooperate effectively in efforts to tackle regional and global challenges," Rumen Radev said in his message of greetings to his American counterpart, wishing him good health and successful work for the prosperity of the American people.
Rumen Radev underlined the meaningful bilateral agenda in areas of mutual interest such as security and defence, law enforcement, counter-terrorism, economy and trade, culture and contacts between the peoples of the two countries.
In his letter, the Bulgarian President welcomed the US support for enhancing energy security and modernising the Bulgarian armed forces. The importance of the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the United States in a number of areas, especially against the background of the collapse of the international security system following Russia's war against Ukraine, is also highlighted in the Head of State's letter, the press secretariat said.
"Bulgaria and the United States can do a lot more to develop the full potential of their relations," Rumen Radev said, noting the acceleration of economic relations between Bulgaria and the United States in recent years. The President also underlines that among the immediate priorities is to bring new impetus to the strategic dialogue between the two countries, including through Bulgaria's accession to the US Visa Waiver Programme and the conclusion of a bilateral Social Security Agreement.
