Police in Bulgaria’s seaside city of Bourgas are interviewing Polish tourists and lifeguards from Sunny Beach resort after clashes on the beach on August 9. According to initial reports, the cause of the conflict was an attempt by tourists to enter the sea during rip tide when bathing is forbidden.
Three Polish nationals and two lifeguards were interviewed at the First Regional Police Station in Bourgas. The incident happened in the no-lifeguard zone in front of a popular bar on the central beach in Sunny Beach.
Two lifeguards got into an argument with three Polish citizens - a father, a son and his girlfriend. The reason was the rude attitude of the lifeguards towards tourists who entered the sea despite the bans.
The Polish citizens tried to defend the tourists coming out of the water, but the lifeguards got into clashes with them. The case is being clarified by the police. There is no information at this stage whether the Polish citizens have any injuries.
