Doctors from “Pirogov” Emergency Hospital protest against dismissal of hospital director

Prof. Ivan Poromanski was dismissed at the end of last week. The Ministry of Health motivated the replacement with violations in the management of the hospital.

Medics from the emergency hospital on June 28 staged a protest and left their work places for about 10 minutes. They demanded a meeting with the outgoing health minister. They described the management of the prof. Poromanski as good and said the allegations that there are violations in the management of the hospital were unfounded.

Outgoing Health Minister Assena Serbezova on June 23 dismissed Prof. Dr. Ivan Poromanski from the post of director of the medical institution, over mismanagement.

In the past four months the Internal Audit unit of the Ministry conducted two checks in the hospital and established wrongdoing in the management of the hospital. The results of the checks have been given to Sofia City Prosecution Office for further action.

The main motives for his removal were the lack of rules for the hospital to repay its overdue debts to suppliers, as well as two attempts to delete from the Commercial Register the procurator appointed by the Board of Directors without a general decision for this action and without notifying the Minister of Health.
