The results from the blood test of the person who caused the serious crash on the Ring Road in Sofia, show 1.73 promils of alcohol, as well as the presence of cocaine, the spokeswoman of the Prosecutor General, Siyka Mileva, told a briefing to the media on September 26.
The examination done at the MMA categorically established that the accused Lyubenov was driving his vehicle after alcohol and drug use, she said. She pointed out that the accused initially refused to give a sample for alcohol and drugs test, but subsequently gave a blood sample at the MMA. 1.73 promiles was the result when the blood sample was taken.
Sofia City Prosecutor's Office is actively investigating and all circumstances surrounding the crash will be examined. An automotive technical examination has been appointed in the pre-trial proceedings to establish the speed of the vehicle, but one has not yet been prepared, Siyka Mileva said.
Witnesses are currently being interviewed and it is being established what Lyubenov was doing before the crash.
Mileva said she was not aware of any large sums of money or drugs being found in the vehicle, but said it was a reason to make a further inspection of the vehicle.
No police umbrella has been established at this time, she responded to a question.
Mileva called for cooperation between institutions and a unified state policy, with clear frameworks outlining the responsibility of the institutions to deal with crimes on the road, but also with organised crime and the spread of drugs.
In the early hours of Sunday morning on the Okolovrostnoye Highway, the powerful car driven by Lyubenov crashed into the car in front, in which there were three people. A French citizen died in the serious accident and his companion, also a French citizen, was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. The driver of the car was also injured.
