The leader of GERB Boyko Borissov (the party which in coalition with UDF won the October 2 early parliamentary elections) commented from Valchidol, Varna region, the refusal of "We Continue the Change" to go to the negotiations organised by GERB.
"Just to say that either they have not understood us, or they are pretending that they have not understood us - we neither offer a coalition, nor do we offer any form of communication beyond what is useful for the country. That is why I think the approach with the contact groups will work and nothing is lost," Borissov said.
He said the most important issue on which there should be unity is the war in Ukraine.
The second priority topic, according to Borissov, is the diversification of gas supplies.
"It is normal that after elections we are all in different moods. The elections showed that the people said 'Yes' to GERB, but they did not say GERB should govern alone. I understand that it is convenient for them to attribute "Vazrazhdane" to us, but for us, unlike them - for me it is important what the embassies think, because they are the direct expressors of their country's policy and I take into account Brussels and NATO. I did not hear “We Continue the Change” talking about maintaining a Euro-Atlantic orientation and directly helping our friends from Ukraine, as the whole democratic world does. They even say that they will make an alliance with the opponent of this - the Bulgarian Socialist Party," Borissov said.
He urged political leaders to step back so that the contact group could work better.
"If we enter the Parliament divided like this, how will we pass the budget? Asen Vassilev will talk about increasing everything without having the opportunity to do so. I really like the slogan of “Democratic Bulgaria” – “Trust in reason”. I want reason to prevail. The MRF is a party that will support everything listed today by "We Continue the Change". And by supporting them, will this be a coalition? I keep thinking that one morning we may end up with a very bad accident in Zaporizhzhya and then we will all forget what else we have been talking about because this will be topic number 1," he added.
According to him, the programme presented by "We Continue the Change" cannot be implemented by maintaining a 3% deficit in the budget.
Regarding the requests for the purchase of Gripen aircraft, Borissov commented that in his opinion the second part of Bulgaria’s new squadron should be composed of the same type of aircraft as the first - F-16.
"We have all made mistakes, there is forgiveness in our religion for this. And, let's now, on the topics of the contact group, reach a consensus, so that we can then bring them to Parliament," concluded the leader of GERB.
